Which is the best: Salford University, Middlesex and University City London University ?
I’m interested in Telecommunications (MSc)
Well, I don’t really think there is a lot of difference between those Universities for that course, looking at various tables and reviews. So perhaps you should pick the one that would suit you best for other reasons such as cost considerations.
Southampton is very good for telecommunications too, here’s a link to them:
University of the Philippines and Ateneo?
I’m thinking of going to UP Manila or Ateneo de Manila. It says on their sites that they only look at you’re GPA and entrance exam scores (or SAT scores). Is that really true? Do they also consider community service work, recommendation letters, talent, extracurricular activities, interview, or anything else like that?
Hi I am a UP Diliman student, BS Civil Engineering!
I don’t know what Ateneo de Manila University expects for, but really know what UP is looking for!
1. The UPCAT. UPCAT stands for University of the Philippines College Admission Test. It is the most competitive exam that less than 11% of the examiners passed throughout the UP System (all UP campuses nationwide), while less than 3% of the entire 11% passed the flagship campus of UP Diliman. Surprising, since UPCAT is really hard.
Well, UP passing is just a matter of your high school grade and your UPCAT performance. 50% of the general average of your first to third year high school’s major subjects and 50% of your UPCAT score will constitute the UPG or University Predicted Grade. From this, you can infer that it is not "sisiw" to enter UP.
Remember, UPCAT is right minus wrong. In the exam, for every four wrong answers, one point is deducted throughout your total UPCAT score. However, blank answers are not considered deductable.
2. You want to go for UP Manila? Then you are considered for health sciences. Herewith UP campuses and their specialization:
UP Diliman : specializes with almost everything, many courses offered here.
UP Manila: specializes with health sciences
UP Los Banos: specializes with agricultural sciences, environment
UP Baguio: specializes with Cordillera studies, anthropology and social sciences
UP Visayas (with satellite colleges in Miag-ao, Iloilo and Tacloban) : specializes with fisheries and aquatic studies
UP Mindanao: specializes with Islamic studies
UP Diliman Extension Program in Pampanga: No idea
UP Open University: online learning.
3. In UP Manila, if you want to take up BS Nursing, it is the most quota course. Meaning only limited slots are given away. In our batch, (2008), I think only 70 were given slots for BS Nursing.
4. UP offers the Intarmed program, or Integrated Liberal Arts and Medicine, which shortens your Pre-Medicine by two years. So, if you want to take Medicine at UP, look for Intarmed— instead of 9 years Medicine leading to General Practition (4 years Pre-Med, 5 years Med proper, 1 year Internship), you will jump to 7 years (2 years pre-med). Remember that Intarmed is based upon UPCAT and candidacy is always demanded each academic year.
5. In UP Diliman, courses that require some "chu-chu" that you are saying are the following:
B Theater Arts : requires audition (of course, acting, etc.)
B Music : requires audition (the judges will test if you can sing,OR dance OR play musical instrument/s, it will be the basis of your major. Ex. B Music major in Violin means a student taking B Music but his concentration is in Violin)
BS Physics : requires interview
BS Applied Physics : requires interview
B Fine Arts : requires artwork rendering (like B Music, it looks for your major. Example, B Fine Arts major in VisCom means a student concentrated in Visual Communications.)
Note that these interviews etc. are only applicable if you pass UPCAT. If you did not pass the required interviews etc., there is no other way to enroll with the same course. Example, if you fail in audition for B Theater Arts, then you will no longer be accepted in that program. But you are still qualified under UP Diliman.
6. I think Ateneo needs letters and essays. Just inquire about it.
Good luck. Just connect with me if you have any question. Kudos!
Why are universities sending my 14 yr old recruitment letters? How do they even know who she is?
I was just curious to find out why all these Universities have our address? My daughter has gotten letters from: University of Chicago, Rice University and others( i threw them out). She took her psats in the beginning of the year. Could that be why? Do universities send them out to all freshmen?
She took the PSAT and likely filled out the section that asks if she wants to receive college mail. It’s not a big deal. You should ask your daughter if she wants to read the letters before throwing them out.
How competitive is it to study History at one of the top universities in the UK?
I was just wondering what options I have available to further my prospects at being accepted into one of the top Universities (i.e. LSE, Kings, Durham, Warwick etc) to read History, and any other advice regarding how to place my self in a good position for the whole application process (i.e. what books to read, things to take part in, etc)
Any relevant answers would be appreciated!
Hi there. Is this for undergraduate or postgraduate study? All of them are popular Universities for History and spaces will be limited. However, universities don’t just look for experience in the subject you are studying in, but a more rounded experience to show that you can get on well in a unviversity environment. Your best bet is to contact the admissions departments and the history departments of the universities you are particularly interesting and find out what they look for. Then tailor your application appropriately. Good luck!

Can you get an online degree even if you’re in a different location than the University/College itself?
For example online degree at University of Phoenix, while living in Canada?
U of Phoenix was just an example, I’m not planning on going there.
Yes you certainly can, in fact one of the best aspects of an online college is that you are not limited by geography in your school selection. My best recommendation would be to contact a number of colleges to find the best fit for you and your needs (tuition, schedule, career opportunities, etc.). Too often people enroll in the first school they find rather than taking the time to find the best school for them. Taking that time now could save you a lot of time, money and frustration if you choose the wrong school.
This site has some good info on regionally accredited online degrees and some colleges that offer them to help expand your search:
http://www.ecollegefinder.org
I think you can enter your info on there for any colleges you are interested in and they will send you more info for free. Good Luck!

What University can help me become a book editor, model, and an actress at the same time?
I would like to become a book editor and a model or actress when I am older, but I dont know what University can help me in all those catigories at the same time. I also would like to have The University be in the usa. (atleast) please someone answer!! I really want to be an actress, but in case it dosnt work I want to be a book editor.
no college that i know of has classes in modeling so you’ll have to go to the private sector for those. many english-geared degrees will help with book editing and you can find thos ein addition to theater arts at NYU, Tisch, carnegie Mellon, USC, UCLA and a bunch of other state schools.
