Anyone know where I can find recordings of the TV programmes for Open University S101 science course?

with 2 comments

Already tried google / ebay / youtube. The OU obviously wont supply them – Does anybody out there collect OU course material?

As 1952 has said, people advertise on Sesame but there is also a facebook group.

Actually I still have my recordings of S101 but I took the course in 1979 so this may not be much use to you now. It was much harder in those dark days.

The big question Should Reggie Bush be stripped of his Heisman Trophy?

with 13 comments

A lot of new casters say yes. What will that prove? All I can say is this doesn’t amount to anything. Why? Because it’s sponsored by the Downtown Athletic club in New York. Last time I checked they made the decisions. My problem is why punish the young ambitious athletes at USC for Reggie Bush’s sins something has to be done about this this is clearly wrong to some Outstanding athletes and very good young men. Change the policy of punishing The UnivUniversity with such hard sanctions.

If they didn’t stripped Orenthal Simpson of the Trophy, then nobody should.

What is the best university to study Mythology?

with 2 comments

I just need to know what is the best place to study Mythology.

Hogwarts!

All kidding aside, don’t listen to the first poster. If you want to study Greek mythology, you don’t go to Greece, you go to Germany. Schliemann (a German) led most of the excavations in Greece and found the tomb of Agamemnon and lots of other things. Since then, the Germans have held on to the best programs for studying Ancient Greece. In Germany it isn’t called Classical Studies either, it is called the Science of Antiquity.

I have no idea about China or India, though I would question his judgment since he is definitely wrong about Greece.

What are the requirements for University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management?

with one comment

What are the requirements for University of Toronto’s Rotman School of Management?

I’m assuming you’re a high school student.

They require university-level English and Calculus along with four other university/mixed-level courses. Your overall average should be at least the mid-80s to be considered for admission. You’ll also be required to submit a supplementary profile form, so having some extra-curriculars or volunteer work will definitely help your application.

You can read more about the program requirements on their website here: http://www.rotmancommerce.utoronto.ca/admissions/required/school.htm

Good luck, and I hope this helps!

Chances at the University of Edinburgh?

with 2 comments

On Edinburgh’s website they give a list of requirements for admission. (for me it would be ACT-27+, and two SAT subject tests with 650+). I took the ACT and got a 31, and have taken one SAT Subject Test so far (US History, 700). Problem is this. My school grades. I guess they are OK. My grade average is about an 85 right now, and I think I did well enough last semester to push it to an 88, or even possibly a 90. Is this good enough? Remember this is an average. I got many A’s, some B’s, and one or two C’s.

Those are good ACT results- are you applying from the USA?

It sounds as if you want to study history (your subject test) and that’s a good score. Go for it!

The most snobby majors in your college/university?

with 2 comments

Who would you say are the most snobby majors in your college/University?

For me, it’s the Theatre, French and Communication majors. Funny thing is that I am a Communication major and I’m not snobby at all!

It has to be political science majors or some performing arts majors.
